I always do something special for the kids on the first day of school, whether it be a special dinner, dessert or even an after school snack and this year is no exception. When I was at Safeway, trying to figure out what to make the kids for their treat, I saw that Hillshire Farm has new Natural Honey Roasted Ham with no artificial ingredients and 97% fat-free, I wanted to try it out.
I thought of the pinwheels my mom used to make when I was a kids, cream cheese and turkey on tortillas and knew I wanted to make my own version. I grabbed the ham, some cream cheese, ranch mix and tortillas and headed home. Then, last night, after the kids went to bed, I went to work. These instructions are for 2 soft taco sized tortillas:

Now I just need to head on back to Safeway and pick up more Hillshire Farm Naturals for their lunches too. I think they might like the Black Forest Ham next! I won’t forget my coupon this time! You can save $0.75 on any ONE (1) Hillshire Farm Naturals® Black Forest Ham or Honey Roasted Ham with the digital coupon available through the Just4U online portal. Expires 8/9/15. (While Supplies Last)
And did you know that Hillshire Farm® is offering a “Love It or We’ll Eat It” Guarantee for those who try the product. They will donate a lunch to someone in need if you “Love it” or provide a rebate. I just love a company that gives back!
I shared with you the great after school treat I made for my kids, now it’s your turn. What special treats do you make for your kids?

What a great idea. My boys would LOVE those.
What an easy and delicious snack. I bet the kids love it!
Mmmmm yum! I give my kids ham and cream cheese in a tortilla. However, I usually just fold it like a burrito and call it a day. Never thought to chop then into wheels or add ranch seasoning to the cheese. Thanks for the idea! 🙂 My kids don’t start school until next week, but I might make it their first after school snack too!
This seriously looks so good yet so simple! I could eat the cream cheese mixture by itself! Thanks for sharing the recipe. 🙂
That is a very easy snack idea. My daughter loves to make toast with avocado, strawberries and feta cheese for a snack.
I love those pinwheels! I don’t eat meat, but they’d work great for veggies too. They make a great snack.
One of my favorite lunches is tortilla pinwheels! Thanks for sharing your recipe
Love how easy + simple these are! 😀 My friend’s kids would love em’!
Ya know, they aren’t just for kids, I love them!
My hubby would love these! He loves anything on a tortilla (go figure) and I get tired of the peanut butter tortillas he likes to make! Thanks for the idea!
I am a lot like your husband, I have tortillas for everything! Technically I do it because they are low carb and they are replacing my breads, but I still love them so it’s all good! And I can see getting tired of peanut butter on tortillas, although I have peanut butter every morning with my apple!
What else does he put on tortillas? I am trying to find more ideas for my own meals and snacks!
These all look so delicious and hopefully the young ones will think so too! Happy Back To School!
Oh yeah, they loved them!!
A perfect snack, or lunch. And I love the frozen green grapes too.
Definitely both as a snack or lunch. I’ve done it both ways too and yes, always with delicious frozen grapes!!
These look delicious! I would love to come home to these
Same here, so far I have made these almost every day for the kids for after school and they are not getting tired of them yet!
Love Hillshire. Great products.
Oh me too, yummy!
Hunger always strikes me around 4 o’clock as well and these look like a quick and easy snack…which I am all about!
Oh yeah, who wants time consuming and difficult snacks when the tummy says FEED ME!!!??
Ooooh! My 1st grader starts school on Monday and I’m thinking these would be great! I know she’d love them, plus I’ve never made them so it would be a fun surprise for her.
p.s. My kids LOVE frozen grapes! 🙂
Definitely do it as a back to school treat and don’t forget to share her thoughts on them!! And yeah, frozen grapes are kinda great!
